The 4-H & FFA Thumb Jackpot Beef Education Program is a 4-H Club in Tuscola County, Michigan. We provide educational programming, a show ring experience in a Jackpot Show format, and scholarship opportunities to youth enrolled in 4-H and FFA beef projects throughout the seven counties in the Michigan Thumb area (Macomb, Tuscola, Sanilac, St. Clair, Lapeer, Huron and Oakland).
On Friday, April 22, 2016 the Tuscola County show committee, beef council and 4H youth provided exhibitors and their families a hot, delicious dinner. A DJ provided exhibitors and their families music, dancing and celebration.
On Saturday, April 23, 2016 the 4-H & FFA Thumb Jackpot Beef Education Program hosted the 25th Annual Thumb Jackpot Beef Show in Caro (Tuscola County). Here over 125 youth, from 9 to 19 years of age, participated in educational contests, scholarship opportunities and exhibited their steer and heifer projects in a jackpot show setting. A silent and live auction before the champion steer selection is used to raise money for the Paul Delong Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Ten seniors were awarded with $4,400 in scholarships. Since 1997, Thumb Jackpot Beef Education Program along with the Paul DeLong Memorial Scholarship has awarded more than $60,000 to high school seniors that have chosen to continue their education beyond high school.
On Sunday, April 24,2016 the Paul DeLong Memorial Scholarship hosted the 1st Annual Paul DeLong Memorial Jackpot Show. Here youth through out the state competed in a Jackpot Show that was part of the MI SHOW Points Program.
